I forgot one – PRIDE!
That would be the one of course, because I have none. If I did, I wouldn´t publish bad pics of myself on the Internet, now would I? This is me, Writing in the lounge. I look REALLY fat, but because you can´t see my face I can always pretend it´s someone else. Like Catherine Zeta-Jones. I wish. But unfortuanetly that is what too many Bellinis and too much English puddings do to you, and choosing between gluttany and Vanity, gluttany Always wins:)
I guess it says something about my personality (and probably something about my total lack of any religious up-bringing) that I never remember all the deadly sins…I Always have to look them up!
So I have done gluttany, lust and greed. Now to my favourite when on holiday: SLOTH!
I love that English word (and not just the implication). And it means laziness. Sloth has also been defined as a failure to do things that one should do. Which is perfect for me.
So, the first pic is symbolizing Sloth, simply because sitting in that loungebar and sipping Bellinis and watching the World pass me by is just my perfect sloth-time!
I guess I could come up with quite a few Vanity-related pictures. But unfortuanetly my Vanity is getting the better of me, and you won´t see them! Unfortuanetly TOM (the Old Man) thinks I´m pretty in all sorts of situations that I´m not (bless him!)…
And finally Wrath – well, there is Always something that can annoy you on a holiday. In my case I was really upset with the Windsor Taxi-Company who sent me a mail confirming the cost of a pickup at Heathrow, but when it was time to pay up the trip was suddenly 5 Pounds more! Not the end of the world, but it´s Always annoying to feel that you have been screwed, right?
Now my next holiday will not be until summer. I´ll be going to Gamescon in Cologne with the Teenage Mutant Monster – be still my heart as I wait in anticipation!
I´m still suffering from a really bad cold I managed to get just before my Windsor-holiday, and that plus the fact that I have had a hellish week in the mines (=work) means that I´m not really up to anything.
So trolling the internet (not really! I just look like a troll while I´m doing my searching) I picked up a tv-show that a lot of bloggers write about.
They are obviously going to make an American version, and looking for contestants, and I even Think there may be a Swedish version on the horizon. But I love Everything English so I stick with the originals!
Apart from being an older lady and not too keen on sitting and watching the telly on my laptop, I just love this show! And it does make me itching to get back on my sewing-projects!!
I can´t believe it´s only a week ago I was there and saw cherryblossoms and sat outside enjoying a perfect brew without a jacket! We´ve had rain, snow and a storm since then and spring just seems to be a distant memory. I guess, watching this Beautiful Picture of the castle I can only Think of one mortal sin:GREED! Yes, I do want a castle!
So here I am on my Little holiday in Windsor, enjoying a splendid Sunday Roast! The pub was called TwoBrewers, if you ever go to Windsor, and it was a Picture-perfect cottagey place with great food! TOM (The old man) even claimed I was looking like I was having an oral orgasm as I was enjoying my Sticky Toffee Pudding with warm custard sauce! So I guess I was getting one more sin of my list:LUST. There is nothing like a proper English pudding to get your libido going…
Dress is from Stop Staring via Modcloth, and they still have that model for sale! Love it, stretchy with lots of room for deadly sins:)
For the 4 1/2 years that TOM and me have been together it has become a bit of a tradition to travel somewhere around his birthday. As his birtday just happens to be March 8th (and this beeing the International Women´s Day, which between you and me is rather funny as TOM is all male) it is just the perfect time to Catch a bit of Spring Before it comes to us in Sweden.
This year we Went to Windsor, just outside London and we were really lucky to get some really fantastic days of Spring! TOM, who happens to be an aficionado of castles, loved Walking around Windsor Castle State apartments on his birthday, and we also walked down to Eton and the famous boys school.
There will be more Windsor pics soon,I hope. Including some of me in my finery. I TRIED very very hard to pack light, but I´m sorry to say I failed miserably.
So this weekend has been filled with boring stuff – like housecleaning, laundry and my most hated actvity:Ironing…
The thing is, when you have lots of pretty dresses the pile waiting to be ironed can grow pretty big. And if you Think boring stuff gets less boring because you grow older – Think again! It doesn´t. You just realise that boring stuff needs to be done. At some Point.
And this weekend I have been planning. Planning a trip that me and TOM (The Old Man) are going to do later this week (it´s a secret for now, but it´s gonna be fun!) and planning the packing (which is less fun but needs to be done) and starting to plan my sewing projects.
I had a bit of a splurge in my local fabric-shop the other day, so I decided to take out the unused fabrics and check what I have.
Hmm – there is definitely a blue theme going on, right? Well, it is a nice change from black I guess! Some of the patterns have a bit of red or dark pink, so I might pick that up in accessories.
These are what I´m planning to use for my pencilskirt and portrait-blouse. I have a tendency to change my mind, so let us see what will finally be:) At least I have now traced the patternpieces and made some adjustments. Next step will be a muslin. Don´t expect to see any more sewing projects for at least a month! I´m a newbie, after all.
I bet you thought I´d given up?
Nope, not me!
But ofcourse I´ve had a lot on my plate this week and with the Jenny-Project done and over with (a different outfit every day until my colleaugue Jenny left for a new position) I needed to rest a bit. But there are still outfits in my wardrobe to share.
Actually, I´m almost a bit embaressed by the amount of stuff I have. Because this Project has highlighted the fact that I just can´t say “I have nothing to wear today!” anymore. Unless Everything is dirty and needs a wash. Or I get to fat to fit anything. Both very good ideas if you want to renew a wardrobe!!
Well, I have no problems with my curvy body. It takes all sizes to make up this world, and this is me:)
Some dresses and SHAPEs look better than others, I admit. I´m not sure about this one as far as looks go, I really need to loose the potbelly:)) But it is very COMFY! Dress was made by Mrs Murphy, a designer who only made one single line for fun and sold them in the Daisy Dapper-shop in Stockholm. There were 4 different designs if I remember correctly, and then there were no more. To bad, because they were all lovely. Bolero is from Monsoon.
